I hope you do have Devin Gatton back on your show because I hope someone will ask him to go into detail about his authority to speak on behalf of the LGBT experience historically and currently.
He’s a straight Republican. ( I learned this when I listened to him on Charlie Sykes radio program this week; it was interesting how he felt the need to make that clear on that show.) I guess, theoretically, that doesn’t have to disqualify him from being interested and even passionate about LGBT issues. However, in reality, I have not heard one thing from him that actually represents what it is like to live as an LGBT person. If this is something he can, in fact, pay witness to — I would love it hear his experiences, how he has dealt with stigma in the past, what he finds unique or challenging about the LGBT experience in American, so on and so forth.
Furthermore, I am a gay man in my fifth decade who is significantly active within the Wisconsin LGBT community. I’ve worked for LGBT employers and nonprofits, I’ve volunteered extensively, I’ve lend services and supported political causes, I’ve held leadership positions and board memberships on prominent LGBT organizations and I have been a coordinating team member of PrideFest Milwaukee. I have NEVER heard of Devin Gatton before he emerged to speak in regard to this controversy a couple days ago. None of my friends or colleagues have, either.
Perhaps he’s a low-key kind of guy who isn’t very social, who chooses to do most of his work online or something. Maybe he’s not the kind of person who aims to create progress for the LGBT community by actually functioning within it. Or, maybe he’s a complete fraud, someone propped up by the state GOP — FOX News — or Bradley herself — to provide unvetted damage control.
What I do know is: Devin Gatton does not speak to issues regarding the LGBT community in any way that represents my experience, my coming out, my activism to achieve and maintain basic rights, my sense of shared experience with others who have traveled a similar path as me. Devin Gatton does not represent me as an LGBT person in Wisconsin. He doesn’t represent most of the people I know, either. I think that’s probably an important point to make clear whenever he’s given a platform to speak in response to any issue that concerns the LGBT community in Wisconsin.

I have known Devin Gatton a long time. He is using the LGBT community to show how “moderate” he is, when in reality he does not care about it nor truly understand its struggles. The only thing he is truly passionate about is money. He also tries to claim some understanding of the LGBT community due to a gay brother, who’s he does not interact with at all due to his intolerance, and since his wife is bisexual. Devins true passion for the LGBT community is connected to the latter point since his wife and he also have an open marriage and he loves to wife swap, and even more, loves when his wife is with other women. Even this is all connected to self centered sexual exploits and nothing to do with sexual liberation. He truly cares nothing about the LGBT community other then a crutch to prop up his own political ambitions and his bedroom life.
Anonymous above hit the nail on the head, his wife’s bisexuality and her girlfriend Amber are why he claims he cares so much about the LGBT community. He also has been trying to groom his son to be gay one day which is backfiring as you cannot choose to be gay. He has a gay brother he despises.
Devin has always been a short fused money hungry power grabber and always will be. I’d urge any organizations associated with him to rethink their association. *cough Gary JOHNSON cough*
His wife is a piece of work too and mentally unstable.
